Books I Want to Read – Winter/Spring 2016

its kate! today I wanted to share books that I want to read this spring/winter of 2016! I am gonna put an image of the cover and link to where you can buy the book on amazon! so lets get started!

Hamilton: The Revolution, by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter

since I am obsessed with the music from Hamilton: The Musical on broadway, I have been really interested in the history of Alexander Hamilton and I think this would be a great read.

Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

I have heard from many people (at my school and etc) that this is a simply amazing read, and I am very excited to read because I took a semester class on women in US history and have been simply pulled to read this book.

The Gospel According to Coco Chanel By Karen Karbo

Another read that has been heavily suggested to me, this book explores the philosophy of the amazing Coco Chanel and speaks about style and passion.

True Prep by Chip Kidd and Lisa Birnbach

This is updated version of the preppy bible “The Preppy Handbook”, and since I loved the Preppy Handbook (even though its a parody of a preppy life) I am way too excited to read this!

Everyday Necklaces that Preppy Girls Should Own

hey guys!

happy thursday! i hope you have had a great week! i have a busy one with finals coming up, so there will be no post on tuesday but macarons and must haves will be up and running on thursday again, and the post for sunday will be scheduled!

so today I wanted to talk about necklaces, personally I love necklaces and would wear them everyday (but I leave them off for basketball) but anyway, I wanted to share some everyday necklaces that I think every preppy girl should own! lets get started!

monogram necklace! : a preppy staple, easy to pair with every outfit and either big or small always looks classy! I like this cutout one from moon and lola and this one on a little disk from jane basch designs
a pearl on a chain from dogeared: a perfect simplistic way to introduce pearls in a everyday outfit!
a pretty pendant necklace: I like this one from nadri! its so shiny and so very beautiful!

Why Do I Blog?

hey guys!

how many times do I get this question? I get this question way too much, so today I wanted to explain to all of you guys why I blog!

let’s get started:

WHY? :

I blog so I can share my opinions, you guys must know it I mean I do so many reviews and I do posts about the things that I enjoy, and the things I think you will also enjoy!
I blog so I can use time wisely! I mean I plan my schedule to make sure I am leaving enough time for homework and my after school activities! It helps me stay on task knowing that I have to get something done, and I have a scheduled amount of time to do it in.
I blog because I like to write. Writing is a big passion for me, and if I can find a good platform to do it on, even better!
I blog because I love it! I honestly wouldn’t blog if I didn’t like it, I mean it’s gets long and sometimes very tedious but it’s honestly so much fun at the end of the day to see something that I work so much for looking good, and other people enjoying it!

My New Year’s Resolutions

hey guys!

happy new year! I can’t believe its already 2016 (my mind is blown!!) and soon I will be turning 16, I will get my license and my sister will graduate!

so today I wanna share my new years resolutions for 2016! I am gonna talk about what they are, and how I will try to do them. Since I will have blogged them it might be way easier or I may be forced to make them stick! here we go!

Stop Procrastinating :
1. I am going to use my planner to plan my schedule and make sure I check my school’s website more often (for homework needs).
Improve My Concentration:
1. By using apps like FocusNow on my IPhone or Self Control on my computer I will learn to concentrate better so I pay better attention to more important things.
Reduce My Stress:
1. I will try to schedule better, and by doing that, I will get things done in less time, and not be so stressed out when I don’t have enough time.
WATCH LESS NETFLIX:
1. I will block netflix on my computer during time when I am busy, and I will plan on working more to watch less, and not binge watch so hard.
Volunteer More
1. This may seem totally selfish, but I feel happier when I do stuff for others, so i have fun when I volunteer, so this year I plan on volunteering more.

M&M Year in Review

hey guys!

hows life? i can’t believe that it’s almost 2016! and I will be 16 soon, which is even crazier for me, so today I was gonna write a little post of my year in review, so yeah let’s get started!

february 2015:

I went to my first winter formal, and I wrote posts about picking my formal dress, and getting ready for formal

march 2015:

in march i wrote posts like my school favorites, my get fit favorites, and I introduced my 1001 in 101 days. I went to roger’s gardens in Corona del Mar and wrote a post about succulents, and how much I loved them!

april 2015:

in april my posts included how to take better iphone pictures, and I shared my experience with my media fast! i went to disneyland in april and wrote two posts about it, about what to wear and my personal pictures from the day. also lilly pulitzer for target came out and i shared my experience with this collection.

may 2015:

in may i turned 15, and i wrote posts about the health benefits of matcha green tea, tips for final exams and what I have learned playing high school sports. and in may I got glasses for convergence insufficiency and shared my experience with getting an eye exam.

june 2015:

in june i felt very summery so many of my posts relayed that feeling, i wrote posts like my summer favorites, my summer bucket list, my workout routine and easy ways to make some more money!

july 2015:

in july on the blog i shared posts like my summer gift guide, how to spruce up your room for summer, and behind the instagram (where I showed how I edited my images!) I shared a post about my fourth of july weekend and a weekend in my summer! and I also received a pair of birkenstocks and experimented on how i should wear them.

august 2015:

in august I shared posts about my fitbit, confessions of a teenage blogger, and back to school de-stressers. and I visited northern california and wrote a post called dessert before dinner about ice cream. and I shared recipes from pinterest that I would like to try (and I tried them!)

september 2015:

in september I visited a restaurant called bottega louie (and wrote a post about it) and it became my blog’s aesthetic. I also shared posts like my favorite macaron items, 10 preppy things to invest in, and my fall wishlist.

october 2015:

in october I redesigned my blog! and showed how I did in this post! I also wrote posts like fall hats and glasses combos, learning to be kind to yourself and life as a 15 year old blogger. I also celebrated macarons and marchesa’s 1st birthday! and did a diy for a monogram pumpkin.

november 2015:

I wrote posts about my favorite quotes, how to get into the holiday spirit and starting basketball again. I started to get into the holiday spirit by sharing my favorite holiday iphone cases and my favorite comfy pullovers!

december 2015:

in december I had a post about getting free preppy stickers and a post about winter outfits! i had many posts about presents like: my full christmas wishlist, gift guides for her, stocking stuffers and my christmas haul! I also did an update on my life recently.

New Years Eve Outfits

Macarons and Marchesa Christmas Haul

hey guys!

today I am sharing some of my presents from christmas (the picture of these gifts is above!) I am sharing my favorites some of which I have already used!

so here we go!

in front of my tree christmas morning I received:

-an olive and june gift card :from my sister, and I am WAYYY too excited to use this to get my nails done, and i am excited for the bonding with my sister

–kate spade bow earrings :i actually got these on christmas eve to wear on christmas eve which I did, and I absolutely love them and I am wearing them to any friends birthday parties!

–stan smith pink adidas :right after I opened these bad boys I tried them on, and didn’t take them off all day! they are so comfortable and I thought they would be heavy but they aren’t so they are great!

–kate spade maise purse :FINALLY, to say the least I received this purse! I have wanted this purse for at least a year now, and now i have it! YAY! and i put my mini maise keychain on it! how adorable!

–starbucks macaron cup :this was my favorite gift this christmas! as macarons and marchesa herself I needed a macaron mug, and now I finally have one! I just love this cup (i have used it everyday now!)

Merry Christmas Eve + My Christmas Day Routine

hey guys!

merry christmas (eve)! this entire week I have been preparing for christmas by decorating and wrapping presents! now by christmas eve I finally feel ready for christmas!

so in this post, I am going to share my christmas day routine. here we go!

as a kid I woke up really early on christmas … not so much anymore! I probably wake up at like 8:30 (which is much later than what I would do as a child!) and make some cocoa with marshmallows to drink.

then I proceed to open gifts, and i completely tear everything up to open my gifts because I am so excited.

in the afternoon I cook with my dad to prepare christmas dinner, which every year we host at my house, and my dad makes different food every year (and this year we are making turkey with all the fixings!) but in the past we have made homemade ravioli and different homemade sauces.

in the evening my whole family comes over to my house to eat dinner and open the presents we have for each other!

and then I sleep because christmas is over 🙁
