hey all!

this weekend, my friend caitlin came to DC for easter break after never had going so my roommate leah and i had to give her the full on DC experience. over the three days i think it’s safe to say we took her to a freaking lot of places! it was so much fun and basically because of that i made a guide of 24 hours in DC what you could do!

here we go!

morning

in the morning, we shopped and took pictures in georgetown! we walked all around the main drag and then took caitlin up to see the university and up by the houses to take pictures!

afternoon

in the afternoon we took an uber from georgetown to U st. we did a little more shopping and looking at the shops there, and of course we had a reservation at le diplomate (one of my favorite restaurants in dc) !

midafternoon

in the mid-afternoon we took the metro from U st to gallery place/chinatown, hopped off the metro and went to the national portrait gallery! of course, i frequent the NPG because i’m an art student but neither my roommate or my friend had ever been so we had to make a stop! once we were done with the gallery we took the metro to eastern market just past the capitol. we got tea and walked around basically till it started raining and metro-d back home!

evening

we bought stuff for charcuterie like salami and cheese and waited out the weather, once it finally cleared, we took a night walk out to the lincoln memorial!

i had a great weekend – and i hope when you come to DC, you repeat some of my plan because it was a pretty awesome day!

as school is coming to a close and summer is coming up alot of my friends, sisters and people that i know have some really awesome internship and job plans for the summer and as i’ve been thinking about that, i wanted to make a collection of bags that you guys can buy to use for work! i picked a collection of totes, briefcases and backpacks that i love and are stylish! i also made an effort to pick out bags from a variety of different brands and pricepoints – everything from $25 to $2,500! its anything you could ever need or want in a variety of colors and styles!

hey all!

as you probably all know, there’s been a uptick in culture recently that is focusing on sustainability which is essentially a way that you using products and goods and seeing how you can reduce your waste and overall impact on the world. a major conversation within sustainability has been within fashion.

for years now, we have been promoting ‘fast-fashion’ and luxury items that affect the environment, and guys i am NO STRANGER TO THIS, i love a good forever 21 top or h&m pants as much as the next guy AND i am a young adult AND a college student so lets get real here people, i probably don’t have the monetary resources or the time to really be as sustainable as i want or need. HOWEVER, since sustainability has entered the conversation in 2019 i have been attempting to make my own difference in sustainability.

(and in no ways am i meaning to be bragging here but yo i’m giving the options!!) i have jumped on the bandwagon and made certain things important to me like carrying my resuable bags that i get from purchases at stores like glossier (like i am shopping there anyway, might as well reuse the bags i get!) and like from lululemon or reformation to cut down not only on the bags i get when i shop, but also cutting down on the bags people use when they get groceries (also!! most importantly both DC and LA charge for bags in grocery stores, and they usually give you 5 cent back if you use your own bags!!) but also i jumped on that resuable straw bandwagon (#sorrynotsorry) and when i forget my reusable straw at home just drinking without a top or a straw (y’all its really not difficult unless you’re drinking boba) (SHOP MY FAVE REUSABLE STRAWS ~cheap!~) and also i bought reusable ziplock bags (SHOP MY FAVE ZIPLOCKS) which i pack in everything from my pretzel snacks between classes to my cords when i fly on the plane!

in terms of fashion, you may have heard, but many brands are doing their part to make things that aren’t creating as much waste as other fast fashion brands.

you’ve heard from me about this ‘cool-girl’ brand many times before. they make THE most beautiful dresses, skirts, denim and more! they have been really game changing in the sustainable field as they have been becoming more and more popular as people flock to their adorable clothes.

okay, i bought these yoga pants from nordstrom and they’re probably my favorite thing i’ve bought in 2019 (sorry H&M seersucker pants, at least you’re a close 2nd?) but i wear them ALL.THE.TIME they’re also the most comfortable and softest material ever – while being like recycled from plastic bottles! they’re an awesome use of material and they’re just too good! also its cheaper than outdoor voices, athleta, AND lululemon! HIGHLY SUGGEST.

this brand is so cool. i learned about it a few months ago when nordstrom did a little profile on it but they make AWESOME sustainable denim (which is usually NOT very sustainable!) so thats great! plus their linen line right now has me all up in my ~fashion feels~ and i get so much inspo from their website.

thred up

i talk about this frankly too much. i use thred-up and love it. i have been keeping up my sustainable grind because when i’m done with clothes i have been sending them to thred-up. so ICYMI, thred-up is a site where people send their clothes in and get paid a small amount of money and they are resold online – so its a secondhand shop – except within the comfort of online! you can make money to spend on ~new clothes~ and you can continue the life of your clothes by reusing a recycling clothes that still have a life! que magnifique!

and i’m honestly not saying that i am not doing the best job at that #zerowastelife or my #sustainability but however, i am TRYING and i too implore you to make that choice as well.

hey all!

hi its april 12th and its officially 21 days till my 19th birthday, i mean can you freaking even. this year has gone by just waayyyy too fast its actually crazy! like just insane! and since i’ve been getting so hype getting ready with birthday plans around here i’ve also been thinking alot about what i wanted for my birthday! and obviously i am in no way asking for these things for my birthday, they’re honestly just ideas of things that i like or want to buy for myself!

#1: secret lives of color book: this has been on my list for awhile and honestly it seems like a really good book for an artist, someone who needs to know about colors and their relationships to one another, plus a friend’s mom says its awesome and i highly trust her on this!

#2: kendra scott birthstone necklace: i’ve really been in the mood for a new good necklace and loads of my friends have kendra scott necklaces but i honestly never felt tied to any one style, and then i found their birthstone line! i love things that are more personalized like this so i really want this!

#3: baies diptyque candle: these are basic, i’ve heard this one smells the best. i honestly think most diptyque candles smell amazing and they are really cute decor for your room.

#4: louis vuitton pink camera bag: i found this while searching on the LV website a little while ago and i really love it. its totally my style and color and i find that a bag like this would just be another perfect noteworthy bag for my upcoming collection.

#5: chloe espedrilles: i saw these babies on revolve a few weeks ago and think they would be perfect for your spring and summer looks! they are a little out of my price range but i think that you could find a really good dupe for these beauties.

#6: byredo gypsy water: these are all over those aesthetically pleasing beauty collections or #shelfies on instagram, and not only are they super pretty, but they are also made of some really luxurious products!

#7: cooli mini fridge: you guys have more than likely seen this on my blog before but i really wanted one for my dorm at the beginning of the school year, but never got one! maybe now is the time since they are now selling them on nordstrom too – and this cow one is sorta cute.

#8: gucci bracelet: i came across this braclet a little while ago on who what wear and thought it was a perfectly subtle bling and little flashy-flashy for a night out or a cute day look!

#9: chloe embroidered bucket bag: this bag is so beautiful. like so beautiful. when thinking about my next designer bag this one has definitely been on my list of next bags i’d buy when i feel more up to it financially. i just really love the embroidered horses and the bucket bag shape is not really like any other bags i own.

#10: normal people book: i heard about this book on buzzfeed.com in an article about new books that came out recently, and since summer is coming up i’m really in the market for some new interesting books so i’d love to give this one a read.

#11: aesop body balm: heard some really awesome stuff about this product and this weather change has been brutal on my skin, so i need some new all natural products – and although this one is a little out of my price range i’m sure i can find something similar at whole foods!

#12: necessarie the body wash: this.is.so.aesthetically.pleasing. like so so pretty i love it, they have 3 scents but i’m on board for the fragrance free stuff! also its all natural and looks awesome & new!

#13: poke-a-dot beauty organizer: next year i am moving into my sorority house (i’m so excited you actually dont understand) and i am moving into a new bathroom sitch so theres nothing better than beauty and bathroom storage, plus i live for a good acrylic container, AND you get to move around the sitch and make it all your own!

#14: aesop exfoliant paste: (see #11), honestly looks like an awesome product but def out of my price range.

#15: comme des garcon converse: how long have i been wanting these? PROBABLY SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, and now almost at the end of my freshman year of college these are still on my list. i love my converse high tops all the time, and think that these would get some awesome amount of use and i would love them forever.

#16: marc fischer espedrilles: you guys have also seen this forever i’m convinced. i have been talking about them for at least the past two years so you’ve def seen them here before.

#17: camera tripod: what have i been noticing more and more? the need for a freaking tripod. i have been using my camera SO.MUCH.MORE recently than before (thank god i bought it all those years ago) and honestly self timer makes for some pretty decent blog posts. at home, my sister has a tripod, but this amazon tripod is lightweight and travelable! how awesome is that! if there is one thing i actually really want and need this year its this bad boy!

hey all!

happy wednesday!! by that i mean ew its only wednesday! like i dont know how i’m gonna get through this week – it will be okay but i am ready to be done with the week so i can soon be done with school and move on with my fun summer plans!

speaking of summer, we are now in spring and it makes me so happy to be in spring and this weekend was such beautiful weather but this week has not been the greatest! how can it go from being 70 degrees out and then go to a high of 50 degrees – like what does that mean!! but anyway, since the weather has been so nice and the cherry blossoms came to peak bloom on monday my friends and i went out to take pictures!
