Kate from A Sprinkle of Kate

-When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in May of 2012, but have had a couple of different blogs over the years. I rebranded in 2015 to finally create a blog that I felt encompassed my style and personality.

-How did you get into blogging?
I actually found an old friend’s fashion blog and was so inspired by her! I thought it was such a fun idea to establish an online network and also share my opinions to readers. At the time I was currently writing in the fashion column of my school paper so I thought blogging online would be an easy transition.

-Why do you enjoy blogging?
I love blogging because there are so many amazing connections to be made online. It’s so exciting to meet people online with similar interests and it’s always thrilling to finally meet a blogging friend in person! These connections and friends make blogging so rewarding!

-What do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not blogging you can catch me spending time with friends, shopping (my form of cardio), trying out new restaurants and spending time at the beach. I love exploring fun new areas even if it just means playing tourist in my town for the day!
-what is your favorite social media platform for showing your blog off?
I think Instagram is probably the most fun, but also the most difficult. It’s so much fun when I have a constant nice feed going, but I struggle with keeping this feed consistent.
-what would your advice be for other bloggers? what would your advice be for bloggers looking for getting into the game?
My advice would be to start blogging because you want to have a voice and share your opinions. To actually be successful you have to be very dedicated and do it because you love it. At first it can be difficult because no one is really reading, but as time progresses, and if you’re passionate enough, readers will find their way to you! Being consistent and having fresh content is also very important — no one wants to read a blog they feel like they’ve read before.

Khat with Kate: The Blonde Prep

August 7, 2016

hey all!
today, i am back with my next installment of khat with kate where i interview some of my favorite bloggers from the blogs that i like to read.
so today i wanted to share my interview with:

Frannie from The Blonde Prep

  1. When did you start blogging?

– I began blogging in eighth grade!
2. How did you get into blogging?
– I started blogging after one of my friends introduced me to a few “preppy
blogs” back in 2012, and I immediately thought the concept was just the
coolest thing. We both started our own blogs a few days later, and although we
really had no idea what we were doing, I loved it from the start! She doesn’t
blog anymore, but I have kept mine going for over four years and it really has
been incredible to see how much a little website I made with a friend has
created so many opportunities for myself.

3. Why do you enjoy blogging?
– I love blogging for so many reasons. I have made friendships and met some of
my favorite girls through blogging and networking on the internet. I’ve also
learned a crazy amount about networking in general, designing both websites
and graphics, creating a personal brand as well as an online business, and a
million other things too.
4. What do you like to do for fun?
– To be honest, I spend a lot of my free time doing something for my blog. It
might be writing an actual post, or it could be anything from responding to
emails, shooting outfits, analyzing my analytics, and maybe even shooting an
Instagram photo. However, I do also have a life outside of blogging (surprise,
surprise!) and I love hiking, running, cooking and baking, reading, and just
being with my friends. I’m also an avid traveler and I love to explore new
places.

5.  What is your favorite social media platform for showing your blog off?
– I wouldn’t say I really aim to “show off” my blog, but I definitely think
Instagram (follow me @theblondeprep!) has been a main source of growth for
TBP. Lately Snapchat has been growing as well, and I think that is an
incredibly fun platform because I love keeping up with other bloggers’ daily
lives minute by minute, so I like the opportunity to post as much as I want on
my Snap (which is @franacciardo).

June 26, 2016

Caroline from Citrus and Style

and since i love her blog so much, i really wanted to ask her some life related questions and some blog related questions, and of course her answers are in pink!
so here we go:
-When did you start blogging?
As a freshman in high school! It’s crazy to think how much my blog and I have grown over the past four years.
-How did you get into blogging?
I started citrus & style on a total whim because I needed a creative outlet for all these ideas I had been storing in my head. Going to a private school, I was pretty stressed out and needed a way to unwind and re-inspire myself. I remember writing my first post (How to Personalize Your School Uniform) and was immediately hooked on being able to share what I love with others!

Why do you enjoy blogging?
Like I mentioned before, blogging is a way to inspire myself and feel productive doing something that I truly love. It’s so incredible to get to form friendships with likeminded people from around the world and work with brands with pieces I adore. Not to mention, it’s a way to earn money in a way that is really fun for me!
-What do you like to do for fun?
I love exploring new areas of town with my friends whether it’s a cute café for brunch or a new hiking spot along the lake. Working out is something I genuinely enjoy so finding fun ways to shred some calories with friends like biking across town to shop is great as well!

-what is your favorite social media platform for showing your blog off?
Instagram is the easiest and most visual way to show aspects of my blog, so I would have to say that would be my favorite platform. However, I personally love Pinterest the most because creating organized boards for different topics is perfect for a Type-A person like myself!
you can find her instagram here
and her pinterest here
-what would your advice be for other bloggers? what would your advice be for bloggers looking for getting into the game?
If you have enough time to start a blog and think you would be passionate about running one, I say go for it! I had no idea what I was getting into when I launched it as a freshman in high school, but maintaining citrus & style has given me so much purpose and inspiration in my life (as cliché as that sounds!). Consistency and content are key in my opinion; you want to make sure you are posting regularly and that your content is enjoyable for your demographic. One quick trick is to make a list of 50 post ideas to see if you have enough content to start a blog. I also recommend avoiding any paid site design services in the beginning because it’s crucial to be able to learn how to work everything on your own!
