its so sad, but its the end of summer. i have 5 days till i land in DC! and i’ve been seeing all of my friends already going back to school and although its hard sometimes to face it, back to school is OFFICALLY HERE, and i’m not even early like overreacting because its here. if you guys have been around here for awhile you KNOW that i love back to school shopping. of course you guys have seen my dorm stuff but here are some of my back to school must haves for 2018!

hey all!
we are IN THE SWING of the back to school season and i think one of the first things i always thought about buying was shoes. maybe because this is the first year since 2004 that i haven’t worn a uniform and basically my only ‘freedom’ i had was shoes, but this season to me always meant new sneakers. but definitely in these past few years i’ve become a total sneakerhead. i mean they’re SO EASY, you wear them to school, you can (MAYBE) wear them to work, you can wear them to the movies, to brunch and athletic sneakers you wear to workout! so there is truly a sneaker for every occasion. since i ALWAYS  think about sneakers as the back to school season starts i really wanted to share my must have sneaker picks with y’all!

#1: vans gingham classic slip-on sneaker

i bought these at the anniversary sale. i had never owned slip on vans – but these seemed perfect for me! just preppy enough, but definitely CA skater vibes! i am totally gonna wear them all the time in DC and i’m so excited to rep them!

#2: puma rose gold basket-heart sneaker

i love the laces on these, they’re so original and they are definitely more unique then a basic sneaker!

#3: adidas continental 80 sneaker

i was doing some sneaker shopping in my local nordstrom store and i came across these guys. i love the ‘vintagey’ 80s & 90s feel i get about these sneakers and love that they are something a bit more than the basic adidas superstar sneakers.

#4: nike air force 1 detachable logo sneaker

i just bought these and couldn’t love them more. i have had them on my wishlist since at least december so i decided to bite the bullet on some new BTS sneakers. i love the detachable logo because its almost as if you get 4 sneakers in one and it really allows you to match with your outfit and have your own freedom in the look.

#5: vans old school sneaker in old rose

my sister bought these (she goes to USC so this is the perfect color for gamedays) and actually really love the look of these.

#6: adidas superstar sneakers

these are classic. you could never go wrong and although at this point these are kinda ‘basic’ sneakers they’re super great to have in your closet because of their plain and versatile style.

#7: keds for kate spade dancing dot sneaker

first of all, kate spade’s line with keds is just so adorable. i love that the polka dots are embroidered on so they don’t just rub off with wash and wear. keds are classic and these are still a fantastic price.

#8: steve madden emile platform sneaker  

i love the unique star print on these. they definitely mimic the look of a ‘vans’ sneaker but i love the platform style (hello 90’s & 00’s are coming back).

#9: nike free TR8 training shoes

i also bought these on the nordstrom sale. they’re some great basic training shoes for all your gym needs. they’re also fantastic for that simple looking athleisure looks!

#10: nike air max 270 sneaker

i just think these sneakers look SO COOL AND FUTURISTIC. i love the all white profile and the way nike styles them in the ad campaign is super awesome and y’all should take a look at that.

#11: converse x comme des garcon play heart high tops

i think you guys know my love for these comme des garcons sneakers. i love how posh they look – they elevate my favorite classic converse high tops to a cool style!

#12: converse chuck taylor all-star platform sneaker

finally, as i said, the ICONIC platform style is coming back and converse are always classic!

hey all!
this past friday my sister and i both had the morning off and we were fortunate enough to go to the marciano art foundation in los angeles to see the ‘yayoi kusama: with all my love for the tulips, i pray forever” – if you don’t know who yayoi kusama is, she’s this bada** female artist who makes these crazy art installations, she created the ‘infinity light room’ at the broad museum in LA and right now the marciano, a free art gallery in LA! so naturally i had to go and see yayoi’s exhibit and also create an outfit to share with y’all!

incase you wondered what was going on with my shoes, the installation required us to wear these funky shoe covers! but i had a lot of fun and it’s an exhbit you should really check out!

ITS AUGUST. august. i can’t believe its august. this is so scary, like intensely scary. i know i ALWAYS am freaked out about a new month but this month is terrifying AND exciting just because i know that i have so many things to do before i leave for school in (today, august 2nd) 18 days. i have so many people to see, so many things to do and just thinking about actually wrapping my head around it all is my problem right now. just because thinking about everything this month and spitting it out on the blog page, so here ya go!

hey all!
july was a CRAZY busy month, i definitely been should have more active on my blog, but instead, i was you know, living my life and sometimes that means that i have some time for certain things and less time for other things. i have also just been doing alot of behind the scenes stuff for work and for school up ahead and thats a ton of just stuff that isn’t so easy to share or i just don’t feel is share-worthy. anyway, this is what my month looked like!

here we go!

i got to celebrate the fourth of july at my friend bianca’s house. we got to watch the fireworks from the top of the rose bowl. it was great to celebrate with them and we all had so much fun!

i’ve gotten to share some of my work #OOTDs on my instagram stories recently and i’ve been hearing good stuff! i love dressing up for work and i love to share my looks with all of you guys!

my  sister and i went to downtown LA and got to go to little damage again (i went last summer too) it was so good and then we headed to USC where she goes to film school and we got to see bo burnham’s movie called ‘8th grade’ it was a fantastic movie, i can’t even begin to explain and i loved getting to spend the time out in my city!

alix and i painted her room this month too! we worked first on priming it from like a pink to white and then painted it blue! i’ve never really painted a room before and although it was hard work it turned out looking really good! i wasn’t shocked but i was very pleased! she also got these string lights and i love how her room turned out.

i worked on my bullet journal, changing up my layouts and other fun things along with that. i love playing with calligraphy and drawing, my favorite new thing in my bullet journal was this month layout for our new month of august! i love stars and how perfectly the blue works in my book.

i know you all knew because i told you about it but the NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE started this month and ends in a week so happy shopping to you all in the rest of the sale! i shared my picks here and an outfit here.

i also got to spend time with my friends, going out and eating (of course) before we all leave each other which will be so bittersweet.

i also kinda gave up on eating paleo. i know i know, i’m a quitter and although i don’t love where i am at in my fitness lifestyle i’m trying to live in the moment and not limit myself on what i want when i want it, instead i’d like to learn about how i can eat less when i eat.

hey all!
i feel that obviously instagram is always the highlights, but especially on my blog those are the extreme highlights! like on a usual day when i am just doing errands i’m out in leggings and a t-shirt and flip flops instead of a cute outfit and i definitely only wear makeup on occassion (its alot less than you might think) and so i really wanted to share some of my favorite ‘blog bloopers’ with the truth behind what it truly took to get these amazing photos that i was able to share with y’all!

here we go why don’t we!

*actually me: it was vv expensive so this is a good dry shampoo 4-day old hairstyle. i had to curl my hair so it didn’t look nasty and i’m trying not to look TOO awkward in front of like 500 people in an 1.5 hour line at disneyland, only dressed cute for the content NGL also its about 100 degrees and i’m OUTSIDE in JEANS*

* okay quick ellie (shout out to my BFF for getting these shots for me!), get me my phone back so that i can see if i look okay and not that i just burnt my hand and my legs climbing on top of this burning hot car in a tiny skirt. also not trying to flash anybody. *

*my hair looks wayyyy too fluffy today so i’m putting it up for the 4th time so it looks ~okay enough~ and put together enough for blog photos they HAVE TO look good enough for the blog*

*i have NO IDEA what i am supposed to do to pose in this tiny skirt, its riding up and yes again its 100 degrees outside and i definitely should have worn sandals because i’m highkey sweating in my socks.*

* trying hard not to fall in this nasty LA side walk. also trying to not look too chubby. also trying to look like this is all natural, but its NOT*

* i have TERRIBLE balance so i have to watch so i don’t just fall over. also i was convinced this skirt was zipped but apparently it wasn’t so these shots were ruined how ~cute~*

* seriously beginning to think this is one of the only blog poses i can do. apparently this is one of the only ones. also i’m moving so it looks like i am the FREAKING flash with my one shoe and i can’t smile apparently. i just look super pained.*

*because i feel so awkward i can only talk about how awkward this pose feels, and once again not trying to flash the camera how cute. also so cleary showing that i can only talk with my hands*

i hope you enjoy all these bloopers half as much as i did! i thought it was really funny going through my pictures and finding the ULTIMATE bloopers because i really wanted to show the other side of blogging. its not all perfect photos and sunshine and rainbows but hey that’s life!
