yay its may! my favorite month because its almost summer, school is wrapping up, and MY BIRTHDAY IS IN MAY!

so lets get started:

the word that i picked for this month is…

spectacular

i picked the word spectacular because that is what i hope my may is SPECTACULAR. the word spectacular (according to google) as an adjective means beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way, but as a noun means an event such as a pageant or musical, produced on a large scale and with striking effects.

how will i try to be more spectacular this month?

this month i will plan on focusing on the more spectacular things in life that many people may not usually focus on to day to day little beautiful things, the little spectacular moments in order to make a fully rounded life.

hey !

welcome to my new segment, khat with kate! this is going to be a monthly segment where i interview other bloggers and cool people things about their lives.

so today to kick off my guest post series we have :

paulina martin from navy striped peonies!

here are a few questions that i have asked paulina about blogging and her life:

1. When did you start blogging?

I started blogging in the middle of my sophomore year in high school, January 5th to be exact!

2. How did you get into blogging?

I actually started Navy Striped Peonies as a New Year’s Resolution for 2015. I had just just begun to develop my “preppy” style, and found lots of influence in big name preppy bloggers. After seeing the amount of teen bloggers out there {and hearing one of my good friends actually runs a blog herself!} I decided it would be a fun thing to try out. I spent weeks building my site into something I was proud of, and then learned the rest as I went!

3. Why do you enjoy blogging?

First and foremost, I am grateful to blogging for teaching me so many new skills. The marketing, writing, design and business aspects that go into running a blog are often overlooked; I didn’t know just how much there was to learn until I got started. I enjoy blogging as a creative outlet. Before Navy Striped Peonies, I didn’t do much to keep the imagination and design part of my mind active; life was school and tennis. I love being able to do something hands on. Plus, it is an interesting and unique part of my everyday world!

4. What do you like to do for fun?

I am a big fan of a night out with friends. I consider myself a social butterfly, so the ultimate Saturday night is one spent out to dinner, going to a workout class, or just driving around town with either my boyfriend or my group of girlfriends. With the weather warming up, I’ve found lots of fun in hiking in my local hills!

5. what is your favorite social media platform for showing your blog off?

Instagram definitely. I go on that app way more than I should! Feel free to follow me @navystripedpeonies.

6. what would your advice be for other bloggers? what would your advice be for bloggers looking for getting into the game?

I have to stress the importance of patience. Unfortunately, overnight success is just unrealistic. I also recommend making some blogging “friends” right off the bat. Just like with any business, networking is key! I wrote a whole post on starting/managing a blog which you can check out here!
